In 2010, Valentin Melik graduated the Russian Academy of Arts Summa Cum Laude with a Masters of Fine Arts degree and critical acclaim of art critics, faculty, students and peers.

Valentin demonstrated his vision and skill as a portrait, landscape, equestrian, monumental and historical painter in this Master's Thesis, "The Mortal Wounding of General Bogration at the Battle of Borodino in 1812."

The Thesis is nearly nine feet high and over twelve feet long.
