Orchard Park teen Valentin Melik has obviously spent eons more time in front of palette and easel than television and computer.  Paintings by this young artist have depth and confidence that unabashedly embrace Old Master sensibilities in lieu of more trendy, post-modernist ideals.  Melik is currently attending the Russian Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, still learning the art of oil technique.  The exhibition, Oils & Graphics, is an ambitious collection of landscapes, figurative art, still lives and reproduced mythological images.  The artist has filled, floor-to-ceiling, the Arts Council Boardroom Gallery -- no small feat.  On a sure path to big fame within the arts sphere, Melik states that his artistic MO is to express artistic power in majestic images that excite the soul, arousing it above everyday occurrences Engagingly enthusiastic words from a dedicated artist at the starting line.
